SALE PRICE FOR SHORT PERIOD ONLY. This double albert chain comes fully hallmarked with 9C on the tbar & each link also the fob medal too. Both dog clips have the makers mark of CDB this is for Charles Daniel Broughton who registered in 1881 he was a silver & gold chain maker of St Pauls Square, Birmingham who worked around the end of the Victorian era in the last quarter of the 19th century, so I believe this chain to be late Victorian, probably around 1890 to 1900 approx.
It comes with a lovely 9ct gold fob medal attached with a shield on one side & plain with hallmarks on the back. The hallmarks are 9 & 375 for 9ct gold an anchor for Biringham assay office, the date letter "A" for 1925 & the makers mark of WHH for William Hair Haseler Ltd of Richmond Street Birmingham, then subsequently, Vyse Street & Hylton Street, both Birmingham. Overall a very pleasing piece. This chain is in overall very good condition, the links have no serious wear nor any breaks & there is very little wear on the join of the links, only slight wear commensurate with age. The links are the hollow type I think, but must be thick & sturdy to have the 9C stamped on each of them & lasted over 120 years since being made.
The length of the albert chain is approx. 15 inches (380 mm) from clip to clip (each side of the central attaching ring to the dog clip is 7 & 1/2 inches or 190 mm). The extra piece of chain & fob medal measures from the tbar to the end of the sovereign & mount is 2 & 3/4 inches (70mm).
A super albert chain & must have for any collector of these p/watch chains or for your treasured gold pocket watch. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.
