The top and bottom of the locket are composed with light yellow citrine quartz gemstones, which were faceted and bezel set in 9k gold. One side of the quartz was monogrammed by carving initials, "DE". The locket opens easily with the help of two long slender gold bars at the bottom of the locket. Inside you will find a gold divider with a raised ornate thistle.
This hinged piece lifts up and a photo or precious item could be placed inside. There are no frames or inserts. The 13 1/2 inch chain is composed of very large ornate links. The larger links (5/16 inch x 3/8 inch) have a carved wavy dot design on the sides with pierced details on the sides. The smaller 5/16 inch round links have a faceted appearance.A wide 1 1/2 inch toggle or t-bar dangles about 1 inch below the chain. The natural citrine gems (tested) each measure approx.
24.8mm x 27.8mm. The locket metal and chain links tested all over as 9k (no hallmarks). The toggle is marked, "9ct". The watch clasp is gold filled and showing signs of loss of gold finish (the only piece that is not solid gold as tested). The locket's gems and overall quality is very good. The chain is also very sturdy and special. Overall, this is a very unique piece meant to be held close to the heart. Please see photos for condition and detailed measurements below.
