AN EDWARDIAN PERIOD SUFFRAGETTE 9CT YELLOW GOLD PENDANT & GOLD TONE CHAIN - C1890S PERIOD BOX & 7.16 GRAMS. STUNNING GIVE WOMEN THE VOTE. It is set with sparking crystals of Peridot, Amethyst and has a central cabochon in which is a real peridot stone. The pendant features a drop pendant peridot.

The chain is gold tone and is not gold and has a modern safety clasp. The pendant is stamped 9ct. The actual pendant weighs 3.1 grams. It has a charming period patina.

This type pendant is exceptionally rare todays market and were not available commercially in period, so many would have been adapted from period brooches & pendants by jobbing jewellers, resulting in some unusual designs and a large range of styles.

This brooch or pendant is of good quality, so a rare survivor? The glass stones featured are Peridot for Green, Amethyst for Violet, clear crystal for White, supposedly symbolizing the Suffragette movements mantra, Give Women the Vote? These colours were first adopted in C1900 and the colours represent G reen for Hope, W hite for purity and V iolet for dignity.

Is in the classic period floral design and is fashioned in 9ct yellow gold. It is strung with a later gold tone chain, which is a useful longer length. The chain measures 18 in length including clasp. The pendant measures 1.5 in length including bale, so a total length of nearly 22.0'' The pendant is 0.75 wide. Is a charming vintage retailers box in dark red leatherette and has a burgundy pad and satin interior. It has a good hidden clasp. It is in vintage condition 2/3 and shows age related wear to both exterior and interior.

The interior is in worn condition 2 with wear evident. This item is in antique condition 1/2.

There is evidence of an aged. Which has caused slight delamination to the gold metal, but is not noticeable when worn.

Is in overall excellent condition. There is some surface scratching to the larger glass crystals and some age related delamination to the metal work including minor marking to the metal, which does not detract from the items charm or wear ability.
