VINTAGE 9CT YELLOW GOLD BELCHER GUARD CHAIN WITH ALBERT. THIS IS A BELCHER GUARD CHAIN MADE OF 9CT YELLOW GOLD COMPLETE WITH A SINGLE ALBERT CLASP. Guard chains are long chains that were traditionally used to hold a watch - or sometimes a fur muff, used to keep the hands warm - and were most common in the Georgian and Victorian eras. They're long, over 50 inches in length and sometimes over 60! , and usually feature a sturdy dog tag fastener or Albert, originally intended to hold the watch. WEIGHING 25.2g, MEASURING 61 INCHES IN LENGTH AND MARKED 9CT GOLD.
